A two-storey house above the Atlantic, in a town most people drive past on their way somewhere less interesting.
Check dates See the houseTwo floors, facing the ocean, with a rooftop terrace that gets the sunset every clear evening.
Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and one big open room where the kitchen, the eating and the sitting all happen together. That room is where everyone ends up.
The kitchen and the bathrooms were rebuilt in 2025. The windows stay open most of the year, including October. There is fibre internet if you need to work, and nothing at all to do if you don't.
Santa Cruz beach is a short walk down the steps. The supermarket, the bakery and about fifteen places to eat are closer than that.

Tell us when and how many of you there are. We answer the same day, usually faster. No deposit is taken through this form — we reply with the price and how to pay.
From November to the end of February we let the whole place by the month.
The coast does not close in winter, it empties. Same house, same view, no crowds on the beach and no queue anywhere. Storms roll in for two hours and then leave.
It suits people who work from a laptop, surfers who want a season rather than a week, and anyone who would rather spend January here than in the dark.
Plus utilities, billed on actual use. Minimum one month.
Santa Cruz doesn't try to impress you.
No tuk-tuks, no queue for coffee. Cliffs, a wide beach and the Atlantic doing its thing all year round. Forty-five minutes from Lisbon airport, and almost nobody outside Portugal knows the name.
Where to shop the night you arrive, which of the fifteen restaurants are worth it, which beach to pick, and what is actually worth the drive. Including the oldest bar in town, where you ring a bell to get in.
Nothing in it is sponsored. These are the places we use.
Read the guideLand in Lisbon, pick up a car, drive north on the A8 and turn off at Torres Vedras. Under an hour, no transfers. There is a bus from Campo Grande, but the car is what makes this coast work.
Portuguese law requires us to register every guest who is not a Portuguese citizen. It takes two minutes and we send the form before you arrive.
We look after the house ourselves. That means you are writing to the people who know where the spare key is, which restaurant will squeeze you in on a Saturday, and whether the swell is any good this week.
